    Brandon Abshire (b. 1980) was born in Kaplan, Louisiana to Carl and Carrie Abshire. He has one sister, Stacey Guidry. Brandon attended K-12 in Kaplan and graduated from Kaplan High School in 1998, before attending University of Louisiana at Lafayette.

    Brandon always showed an aptitude to technology and moved to San Diego, CA in 2000 to work at an Internet startup with his best friend and co-author, Chrissy LeMaire. At the age of 22, Brandon cofounded RealCajunRecipes.com as a way to preserve his family recipes and culture. Throughout the years, the website has continued to grow.

    In 2004, the original RealCajunRecipes.com cookbook was created and sold for many years in its classic form. In 2018, Brandon moved to Los Angeles, CA as lead DBA for Cedars-Sinai. In 2019, Brandon and Chrissy regrouped to create seasonal cookbooks based off of Cajun favorites, featuring their mascot, Alphonse.

    Chrissy LeMaire is super Cajun on both sides of her family which includes the LeMaires, Langes, Faulks and Bourques. Not only was she born in "The Most Cajun Place on Earth", she was also born on Mardi Gras, which pretty much seals the deal.

    After moving to California and discovering all the misconceptions about Cajuns, Chrissy started realcajunrecipes.com with her best friend from home, Brandon Abshire to share authentic recipes with the world. Later, she started the Real Cajun Blog which focused on Cajun Culture and heritage.

    Chrissy is also an award-winning technologist and the creator of the popular SQL PowerShell module dbatools. She also holds a master's degree in Systems Engineering and is coauthor of Learn dbatools in a Month of Lunches (coming Summer 2020).

But even more, the creators of Real Cajun Recipes made owning this book a fun experience! The value and meaning of many recipes were explained by the recipe contributors in a way that made me feel as if I was being let in on a family secret.

This book celebrates the colorful and friendly culture of Cajun people. Audio segments literally allowed me to listen to some of them express their thoughts on many of the recipes. SO enjoyable!
